Baikal Ice Storm Marathon 2020

Ice surface of Lake Baikal, along the western coastline between Sakhurta village in the Olkhon Region and Listvyanka village of Irkutsk Region.

Starting point is in Sakhurta village, finish line is in Listvyanka village. Waypoints and accommodation: Buguldeika village, Bolshoye Goloustnoye village. 

Attention! Due to ever changing weather and ice conditions the race location could be changed to Small Sea Strait area. The final decision will be made a week before start. 

Participants must be at least 21 years old, with sufficient qualifications and experience in the chosen sport discipline in winter conditions to be allowed to participate in the race.

The following equipment is mandatory for each participant

GPS (the installed map of race area is recommended). The separate GPS navigator is strongly recommended, smartphone is allowed only with powerbank or spare batteries stored in warm pocket.

Signal flare and colored smoke flare.

Headlamp with spare batteries.

Fully charged cellphone in cold-proof waterproof pocket (Tele2, MTC or Megafon. Beeline is useless.)

Lighter or matches.

Racing stage map (provided by organizers committee).

Thermos flask not less than 1 liter.

Individual supplementary food for the race.

Winter expedition gear rated at least to -30C with wind weather, watertight packed spare clothing.

Individual first aid medical kit.

Warm sleeping bag (-5C comfort).

Camping mattress.

For bicyclists: Studded tires and helmet are required.

For skaters: Knees protection required. Elbows protection and helmet are recommended.
